Hawaii’s state tree, the beautiful Kukui is characterized by its bright green foliage. Seeds were originally brought to Hawaii by the first Polynesian voyagers. The nuts are made into lei, and occasionally the flowers and leaves are made into wili style lei. The oil from the nut is used as finish for canoes and calabashes, light, and salve for the skin.
