Next week I will have a booth at the Merrie Monarch Invitational Arts Fair in Hilo which runs April 11-14, 2012. I will be in the Butler Building, booth 101. I am so excited to be accepted into this prestigious show which features some of Hawaiʻiʻs best artisans. This art fair is linked to the famous Merrie Monarch Hula Festival where the best hula dancers come to compete. The Miss Aloha Hula, Kahiko and Auana nights are not too be missed!
I will be bringing new products including a limited number of Koʻa or Coral Pillow covers with coordinating drink mats, sheer lightweight cotton scarves in 4 beautiful colors and designs, rust colored Lauaʻe place mats, raffia wall hangings and a new clutch – Ulu in khaki brown tones.
I have danced the hula most of my life and have had the honor to be in two great halaus. This training has deepened my respect for the Hawaiian culture, the plants, stories and history. I create my art in an attempt to celebrate the culture and the hula of this special place – Hawaiʻi.
Looking forward to this yearʻs festival! With much aloha,
